Technology Assistance Center

The Technology Assistance Center--commonly referred to as the "TAC"--is a central hub of communications for all the technology resources at the campus. Formerly known as the "Computer Help Desk," the is the University community's first stop for technology and computing needs. Recent organizational changes have been made to ensure that the Technology Assistance Center continually strives to be a more professional, responsive agency, dedicated to assisting the community in the use of technology as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

Who Do I Call?

Who do you call with a technology question? An ITS? The Infrastructure staff? That nice guy that helped you with the virus software updates...what was his name again?

No matter the question, there is only one place to call: The Technology Assistance Center at 654-2255. Users are strongly encouraged to route all questions through the TAC instead of calling others in the Department of Information Technologies. The TAC specialists are trained to help ensure that your question is answered by the person who is best qualified.

The TAC representatives can frequently help to troubleshoot computing problems over the phone. When that is not possible, the TAC representative will route the request for assistance to the appropriate specialist in the Department of Information Technologies, whether on the Fredericksburg campus, or the Stafford campus.

Many questions about our systems, software, and policies can be answered by the online Technology Assistance Center Web information and tutorials. When you can't find what you want on the Web, the TAC can receive your phone calls for assistance every day until 10 pm, and all day Sunday.
