Tennis Center Open Hours
Friday, September 21
Indoor Courts: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.
Outdoor Courts: 12-3 p.m.
Challenge your student or parent to a tennis match! Students and families are invited to open court hours at the UMW Tennis Center on Friday, September 21. UMW IDs are required for students.

Please call the Tennis Center at 540/654-2482 to reserve your court time. You must mention that you are attending as part of Family Weekend and the reservation must be within the hours listed above.
Fireside Chat: Looking at the Emancipation Proclamation

Drawn from the popular book The Emancipation Proclamation: Three Views, this program marks the issuance of the preliminary proclamation in September 1862 and brings together three prominent authors to interpret, evaluate, and remember the Emancipation Proclamation at its 150th anniversary.

Phantom at Riverside Dinner Theater

Based on Gaston Leroux’s novel The Phantom of the Opera, this version is hailed by critics as eminently equal to its more famous Andrew Lloyd Webber counterpart, and continues to be performed at major venues throughout the world. Riverside is offering students and parents a $10 discount on Adult ($55) or Adult Priority Seating ($60) tickets. UMW students must present their school ID and parents must accompany their students to the performance.

Process and Paradox

Join us for a lecture with Eric Standley, associate professor of studio art at Virginia Tech and exhibited artist, in conjunction with the Reinterpreting the Decorative Arts exhibition. His innovative cut-paper drawing process took several years to develop. In this presentation, he will discuss the technical process and conceptual development that led to his current body of work titled Either/Or Decreed. Reinterpreting the Decorative Arts will be on display in the Ridderhof Martin Gallery from September 7 – October 5, 2012.
