Directions from I-95
University of Mary Washington is located in Fredericksburg, Virginia, 50 miles south of Washington, D.C., and 50 miles north of Richmond, Virginia. To reach the campus from Interstate 95, take Exit 130-A. Follow Route 3 East business 1.5 miles. At the traffic light at College Avenue, turn left and proceed to the University gates, located on the right at the next traffic light.
Directions from US 1
At the Park and Shop Shopping Center, turn left (if traveling south) or right (if traveling north) onto College Avenue and proceed to the University gates, located on the left at the next traffic light.
Directions from Downtown Fredericksburg / Train Station
From Caroline Street, turn left on Amelia Street and travel west for seven blocks. Turn left on Washington Avenue, travel one block, then turn right on William Street (State Route 3 west). At the traffic light at College Avenue, turn right and proceed to the University gates, located on the right at the next traffic light.
Fredericksburg is accessible by transportation services from major airports in the Washington, D.C., and Richmond, Virginia, areas as well as by Amtrak and commercial bus lines. The Fredericksburg Regional Transit (FRED) bus system services the Fredericksburg area with four scheduled routes covering 18 areas.
Parking
Limited two-hour visitor parking is located just inside the University gates off of College Avenue. Additional parking may be found in the University parking deck at the north end of campus and on residential streets surrounding the University. However, the following streets are restricted to city parking permit only (you will be ticketed in these areas):
• 1100 block of Sunken Road, east side of street between Cornell Street and Mortimer Avenue
• 900 block of Monroe Street, north side of street between Franklin Street and Sunken Road
• 1200 block of Brent Street, both sides of street between Colony and College Avenues
• 1200 block of Parcell Street, both sides of street between Augustine and College Avenues
• 1300 block of Hanover Street, north side of street between College Avenue and Bright Street
• 800 block of Adams Street, both sides of street between Hanover and William Streets
Dodd Auditorium is located on the first floor of George Washington Hall, the first building on the left upon entering the University's main gates from College Avenue.
