Welcome Faculty & Staff
All of us here at Mary Washington have an important part in contributing to the educational experience of each and every student. In our specific job duties, many of us have day-to-day contact with students either as faculty members or in a program support capacity. Others work behind the scenes to make Mary Washington a live, functional community.
FACULTY/STAFF CAMPAIGN
All Mary Washington employees can make a difference by participating in the Fund for Mary Washington. Unrestricted gifts to the Fund for Mary Washington help support special programs and areas of critical need not covered by the State budget. These include many scholarships, Career Services programs, transportation vans, benefits to attract and retain quality faculty and staff, programs for alumni, special publications and other needs that benefit students.
Many foundations and national organizations consider faculty and staff participation levels when determining rankings or awarding grants. Alumni, parents, friends, corporations and foundations often examine the percentage of employees who participate in annual giving programs when they consider financial commitments to the University.
ARRINGTON SCHOLARSHIP
Gifts from past annual giving campaigns and challenge matches from Arabelle Laws Arrington '41 helped establish the Arrington Scholarship program. This is a tuition remission program for children of Mary Washington employees.
"The fact that the University of Mary Washington is able to offer tuition remission is a positive factor in recruiting," says Marty Wilder, vice president for enrollment, "It demonstates how much the University values its faculty and staff."
ADDITIONAL GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
Members of the faculty and staff can also establish a scholarship or arrange a planned gift to the University.
PAYROLL DEDUCTION
When making a gift, remember payroll deduction. It is a convenient way to make a gift, and it is now available to all full- and part-time UMW employees.
