Q:
What is the class gift and what does it have to do with me?
A: The class gift has become a tradition at Mary Washington since
1984. Each year, the graduating class collects pledges throughout the
year, and then presents it as a gift to Mary Washington during Senior
Convocation.
Q:
Should I give even if I can't make a large donation?
A: Absolutely! As a senior, your participation is much more important
than the size of your gift. Did you know that some of the University's
rankings depend on your participation? It's true! And your gift, no
matter what the amount, plays a crucial role in the University's financial
success by increasing its ability to receive funds from foundations
and corporations. Whether you pledge $20.10 or $210, Grad Challenge
is a great way to remember the Class of 2010.
Q:
What will my gift support?
A: The senior class gift will support scholarships, faculty benefits,
alumni programs (like Homecoming), publications such as University of Mary Washington
Magazine and networking efforts including the Online
community. When you graduate and become an alumnus, you will benefit
from these programs, as will all students who come after you.
Q:
When do I have to pay my pledge?
A: Your pledge payment can be paid anytime before June 30, 2011, by check or credit card. You can even pay in increments (or installments) by using our new Automatic Gift Plan. Pay your pledge online or set up regular installments.
Q:
Do I get any recognition for my donation?
A: Yes! Like many of your fellow classmates, when you pledge $50,
you become a member of the Eagle Club.
Q:
What is Grad Challenge?
A: Each year, the new graduating class sets a goal to raise
more money than previous classes, and to increase class participation.
Q:
What is the "In Honor Listing" and how do I get in it?
A: When you make a pledge to Grad Challenge before April 6,
2010, you have the opportunity to honor or remember up to two individuals
(or groups of individuals) in the "In Honor Listing." This
is a special booklet which will be distributed to your campus mailbox just before graduation.
Q:
How do I make a pledge?
A: Fill out this pledge card and return to Kate Wheeler '08, Assistant
Director of Annual Giving, at kwheeler@umw.edu
or mail to 1119 Hanover Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
