Vice President for University Advancement

 

Jeff W. Rountree '91, Vice President for University Advancement, oversees development and alumni relations at the University and also serves on several University boards.

He is responsible for fund-raising efforts at the University including major gifts, planned giving, annual giving to the Fund for Mary Washington, scholarships, and development efforts related to the James Monroe Museum, Gari Melchers Home and Studio, and the University Galleries.

Mr. Rountree also oversees alumni relations activities including those related to Homecoming, Reunion Weekend, and special events planned annually for the Fredericksburg and Stafford campuses and across the country.

He is Chief Executive Officer of the University of Mary Washington Foundation and also serves as Executive Director of the UMW Alumni Association Board.

A 1991 graduate of UMW, he initially joined the Mary Washington faculty as a counselor in the Admissions Office.   In 1993, he began his career in philanthropy at the American Cancer Society, first serving as an Area Director in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, then leading a state-wide office, and finally becoming a National Director in the organization's national home office in Atlanta.

Since his return to Mary Washington in 1999, Mr. Rountree has led the Development team in raising more than $60 million in gifts, including the campaign for the Jepson Alumni Executive Center.   In 2001, he helped establish the UMW President's Travel Club.

As Vice President for University Advancement, Mr. Rountree provides a unique perspective to enable his division to encourage alumni to celebrate their connections to Mary Washington in many ways, including attendance at special events and by offering financial support to their alma mater.

He is a native of Williamsburg, Virginia, and currently resides in Richmond with his wife and son.
