UMW TRAVELERS ENJOYED NEW YEAR's CELEBRATIONS IN SOUTH AFRICA

It was like something out of a movie when members of the UMW President's Travel Club left the United States December 27, 2008, and were transported to another world in South Africa.
During the next week, they dressed in their best safari garb and grabbed binoculars and cameras.
They were on alert for the "big five" (lion, leopard, elephant, white rhino, and Cape buffalo).
They were fortunate to see many of these and other African creatures close up during ranger-led game drives and bush walks in Thornybush Game Reserve and Kirkman's Kamp near Kruger National Park.
When not spotting game, the travelers were treated to a festive New Year's dinner under the southern stars - - and to wine-tastings at the Cape Dutch Boschendal Manor near Cape Town.

Like all good movies, the long-anticipated excursion ended, and the happy travelers departed South Africa to return home.
