Employee Recognition Luncheon, October 14

Celebrate the contributions of UMW's classified and wage employees at the Annual Employee Recognition Luncheon on Tuesday, October 14 in the Woodard Campus Center, the Great Hall. The buffet will open at 11 a.m., and the program will begin at 11:30 and conclude at 1:30 p.m.  Those attending will be able to:

  • Enjoy music by UMW's talented “Idol” Seth Casana
  • Listen to a message from President Judy Hample
  • Support colleagues recognized for service
  • Applaud UMW's 30 Year Award recipients
  • Discover the recipient of the coveted Coleman Award

Get a Free Flu Shot

The UMW Student Health Center will be offering flu shots, Thursday, October 2 on the Stafford campus and Tuesday, October 7, Thursday, October 9, and Friday, October 17 on the Fredericksburg campus. Click on Flu Shot Clinics.  Faculty and staff flu shots are free.  Please contact the UMW Student Health Center at 654-1040 with any questions. 

Also, COVA Care and COVA HDHP members, including covered dependents, will be able to get a free flu shot at participating Virginia pharmacies until the end of flu season. Visit www.dhrm.virginia.gov  for more information, including a listing of participating pharmacies.

Autism Brown Bag Dinner Series

The second talk in the Autism Brown Bag Dinner Series continues on Monday, October 20.  Lindsey Hauver, Spotsylvania regional coordinator for the Matthew’s Center for Visual Learning, will present “Beginning Applied Behavior Analysis for Parents.” Advance registration by Saturday, October 18 is appreciated.

The discussion will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in University Hall at the North Building on the Stafford campus on U.S. 17. The program is free, open to the public, and is of special interest to parents, professionals, students, and anyone interested in children with autism and other special needs. Participants should bring their own dinners. For registration and other information, contact H. The University of Mary Washington College of Graduate and Professional Studies will hold a community information fair about autism Oct. 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. The fair will feature details on community resources for individuals with autism and their families and caretakers. Japanese prints on exhibition

.The Ridderhof Martin Gallery is showcasing Images of Japan: A Portfolio of Modern Japanese Prints from Private Collections, an exhibition of 100 limited-edition works on paper by 20 of Japan’s foremost contemporary printmakers. The show runs until October 26 and is free and open to the public.
