Thank You and Centennial Scavenger Hunt is Still on!

We appreciate EVERYONE coming out today for the Employee Appreciation Celebration, despite the wind and rain. Between The Glass Onion Band and the "UMW Talented Idol" competition, the entertainment was fantastic!

The fun is not over yet...make sure you test your knowledge of our University’s campus and history, with an interesting and educational excercise along campus walk with the Centennial Scavenger Hunt! Pick up your first clue and answer form in the Human Resources Office in the Fairfax House. The clues are located at 7 points, no further than George Washington Hall and the rock near Woodard Campus Center. There will be a prize drawing at the end of the week on Friday, May 16 at 3:00 p.m.!

So many people came together to make this event happen. We hope we don't forget anyone; if we do, know we appreciate you too. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the following departments and invididuals:

  • Facilities Services, Sodexho, University Relations, Bookstore, Events and Multimedia Support Services, Kalnen Inn, James Monroe Museum, Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont, and ACDCV Committee.
  • A.J. Newell, Betsy Chinn, William Crawley, Jack Bales, Ben Kjar, John Adami, Dave Cooper, Terry Luttrell, Amanda Carter, and Marie Somma.

Special thanks to the generous businesses for their donations.  Make sure you drop by the Fairfax House to pick up your prize if you won during Virginia Public Service Week last week.

We also want to especially thank the Idol judges, Melissa Myers, Matt Mejia, and Cedric Rucker; emcee Rick Pearce; and our talented contestants, Bruce Blair, Ali Gauch, Seth Casana, Kevin Mickie, Rachel Pennington, Roslyn Woolfolk. We've got some superstars here!

Congratulations to Seth Casana, "UMW's Talented Idol" for 2008 and runner up, Ali Gauch!

The following folks won prizes during the Celebration:

  • Edith Jett won 2 entrees from Cracker Barrell (Evaluation Drawing)
  • Jose Veloz won a dinner for 4 at the Kalnen Inn (100th person in line)
