Assistant Professor of Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology and Sociology invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Anthropology, tenure track, to begin on August 15, 2010.

Requirements: A Ph.D. in cultural anthropology or evidence of its completion by the time of appointment is required. The successful candidate will teach introduction to cultural anthropology and upper level courses; areas of interest are open, but preference will be given to anthropologists whose research interests focus on enduring themes in the anthropological literature based on a sustained ethnographic encounter with locally situated groups in the contemporary world in places other than the United States and Europe. Demonstrated achievement in and commitment to teaching and scholarship are required.
