Sabrina Johnson

Sabrina Johnson serves as the Associate Vice President for Human Resources and AAEEO.  She has been with the University of Mary Washington since 1997.  Prior to her service at UMW, she was a management consultant and employment counselor with the Department of Employment Dispute Resolution for four years.  Sabrina is licensed by the Virginia State Bar (1991), having earned her J.D. from the College of William and Mary.  She also possesses a Masters of Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University (1982).  In 2004, she was appointed to the State Council for Human Resources by Governor Mark Warner for which she is currently serving her second term. sjohnson@umw.edu

Tammy Prailey

Tammy serves as the Office Manager of Human Resources and as the Workers’ Compensation Coordinator for the University of Mary Washington.  She also manages the Human Resources website and operational budget.  Tammy has been employed with the Commonwealth since 1993, working at Virginia Tech - Northern Virginia Center and the Virginia Department of Transportation before joining UMW in March 2004.  Tammy graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and is currently working towards a graduate degree in Career Education/Occupational and Technical Studies at Old Dominion University.  Notary Public. tprailey@umw.edu

Marilyn Birriel

Marilyn Birriel has been employed with the University of Mary Washington since June 2007. She serves as the Office Services Coordinator and first point of contact for Human Resources. Marilyn was born in Puerto Rico and moved to the U.S. in 1991. She has a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics/Nutrition from the University of Puerto Rico and a diploma from Eldorado College in Office Administration and Procedures. Marilyn has worked for the private sector in insurance and banking; and for eight years, with the public and private school systems. Her diverse background includes serving as an Instructional Billingual Aide in California. She moved to the area in 2006, after being overseas in Okinawa, Japan for four years. mbirriel@umw.edu

Sherry Morgan

Sherry serves as the Assistant Director of Human Resources and as the Benefits Administrator for University of Mary Washington.Sherry administers benefits programs for UMW employees, coordinates performance planning and evaluation programs, and provides guidance in the area of job structure and compensation.Sherry has been employed with UMW since July 1970 working in the Library, Office of the Executive Vice President, and Telecommunications before joining the Office of Human Resources in August 1986. Dee Lycett

Dee has been employed with University of Mary Washington for the last fifteen years as the Recruitment Manager.  She is responsible for the recruitment process for faculty, administrators, classified, and wage employees.  Previously, she spent five years at Germanna Community College in the same capacity.  Originally from New York City where she worked for Mobil Oil, she moved to Washington, DC to accept a position with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association prior to joining the Commonwealth of Virginia’s workforce.  Notary Public. dlycett@umw.edu

Information Systems

Paula Wilder

Paula joined the Human Resources Office in 2003 as the Information Systems Manager.  She spent two years as a Human Resources Analyst with the Virginia Department of Transportation in Richmond.  Previously, she was a Human Resources Generalist for Bell Atlantic for thirteen years and worked as a customer service representative at C&P Telephone and New England Telephone.  A native of Massachusetts, Paula has lived in Virginia for eighteen years.  Notary Public. pwilder@umw.edu

Jeremy Braz

Jeremy works as the Information Systems and Recruitment Assistant and is responsible for entering and tracking data related to job searches and current employees. A native of Maine, Jeremy spent four years as an Assistant to the Registrar at Bates College in Lewiston before joining Mary Washington in November 2007. Jeremy graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a Bachelors of Arts in Philosophy in May 2007. jbraz@umw.edu
