Become a Friend of the James Monroe Museum

The Friends of the James Monroe Museum is an organization founded in 1991 to support the activities and programs of theQuote about James Monroe Museum.  The James Monroe Museum and Memorial Library is dedicated to the study, interpretation and presentation of the life and times of the fifth President of the United States.  Its mission is also to trace the social, political and intellectual influence of James Monroe and to present it within the context of his life through exhibitions, publications, scholarly presentations, community events, and educational programs.

Your generosity will ensure that the President's legacy will continue in perpetuity, along with the operation of this Museum.  Friends' money has contributed to all of our special exhibitions, our book A Presidential Legacy, and free community events such as the annual James Monroe Lecture and our Holiday Open House.  Friends' contributions also support the maintenance and expansion of our collection, which currently contains over 1600 items owned by James and Elizabeth Monroe, 10,000 rare books, and 27,000 documents relating to the life and times of Monroe and his descendants.  Every little bit we raise helps the Museum continue to be a resource for historians, educators, the community, and the general public.
