What is Zotero?
Zotero is a free, easy to use Firefox extension to help you collect, manage, and cite your research sources. Save citations and create bibliographies right where you work – in your web browser.
Zotero allows you to:
- Collect: Collect information on books, journal articles, and web sites. Store related images, links, and entire web pages.
- Organize: Drag and drop items into collections and tag them with terms relevant to your needs. Easily take notes alongside your items.
- Cite: Create bibliographies in all the major styles. Drag and drop bibliographies into email, blog posts and word processors.
- Sync: Sync your data between multiple computers. Access your collection from any web browser or mobile device.

Have a quick question? The CGPS Stafford Library now offers research assistance via the web using the chat/instant messaging service Meebo. A Meebo widget is accessible from CGPS Research Guides, our Ask the CGPS Library page, and other CGPS Library web pages and allows you to quickly and easily contact a member of the Library staff. IS THERE A BOOK OR VIDEO YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE ON OUR SHELVES?
The UMW Libraries welcome recommendations from faculty, staff, and students for materials to be purchased for our collections. Please submit your requests online via our new Purchase Request Form. While we cannot guarantee that all requested items will be purchased, all input is appreciated and will be considered! If you need the requested item immediately, please place an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Request via ILLIAD and we will attempt to borrow the item for you from another library.
Getting MAterials from Simpson Library Just got Easier!
CGPS students, faculty and staff can now use ILLIAD to request books or articles from the Fredericksburg campus. The ILLIAD system will allow us to deliver most articles to patrons electronically. ILLIAD can also be used to place InterLibrary Loan (ILL) requests. Please see our ILLIAD FAQ for more information. If you need assistance placing requests, please contact the CGPS Library staff at cgpslib@umw.edu or 540-286-8025.
