Notes
Databases and data sets generally differ in their content and usage. Library databases are most often useful for finding abstracts, citations, or the full-text of journal and newspaper articles. However, some library databases also contain statistical information, such as tables or time series.
Data sets are the raw data obtained by researchers, such as the answers to a survey. An extensive searchable collection of data sets is available to faculty and students for assignments and further research through UMW's membership in ICPSR

United States Census
UMW Libraries has been a member of the Federal Depository Library Program since 1940 and receives and maintains selected government documents, including numerous Census publications.
United Nations
The United Nations is one of the few sources of statistics from all the world's nations. Due to disparities in reporting infrastructures, publication of U.N. compilations tends to be slow and statistics from lesser developed nations may be rudimentary or appear to be out of date. However, these are generally the most recent data available.
