netLibrary Account Information
netLibrary users must create a personal account login and password. Once you have created a personal account, the netLibrary collection may be accessed directly or by using links in the UMW Libraries' catalog from both on and off campus. To create an account, go to netLibrary and click on the "Create a Free Account" link located in the top right corner of the page. Off-campus users must create an account by linking to netLibrary from links on this page and not from links in the Catalog or by going directly to www.netLibrary.com.
- The standard loan period is 4 hours. When the timed loan period for an item has been reached, access to the book will expire and you must check out the book again to continue using it.
- If the book you want is checked out, you may request to be notified via email when it is available. Please note that the book will NOT be held for you and may be checked out by someone else if you delay in accessing it.
- All user accounts are managed by netLibrary, so Simpson and CGPS Library staff members are unable to look up login names and passwords. When setting up an account, please make sure that your answer to the Security Question you select is one that you will remember - netLibrary will need your correct answer to email your lost login and password to you.
- To prevent unauthorized access to your account when working at a public computer workstation, log out of netLibrary and close your browser window at the end of each session. Also, checking each book back in as soon as you are finished and before the end of the loan period will allow others to access the book without a lengthy wait.
About netLibrary
The Libraries of the University of Mary Washington provide access to over 42,555 electronic book volumes from netLibrary. The coverage of this collection includes all subject areas, although it is strongest in the areas of literature, history, business, health/medicine, sociology and religion, with science, philosophy, computer science and education also well represented.
Individual electronic books are listed in the UMW Libraries Catalog and may be located through title, author, subject or keyword searches. Browsing or searching just in this electronic collection may be done through the netLibrary site, which in addition to author, title, and subject searching includes the ability to search by publisher or through the full text of the books. Another feature allows users to browse the table of contents and small sections of a book prior to checking it out.
