What is Archives @ UMW?
Archives @ UMW, available at http://archive.umw.edu/, is the University of Mary Washington’s Digital Library Repository. Among the many collections available at Archives @ UMW, UMW Libraries is planning to digitize and make available UMW Honors Papers and EDCI 589 and 590 Projects.
Why would I want to include my Paper or project?
Archives @ UMW is publicly accessible on the Web and is an excellent way to showcase your work to employers, family, and friends. Online access will increase the availability of your work to other scholars in your research area and reduce the wear and tear on the print copies, preserving them electronically. While inclusion of your paper or project in the digital archive is encouraged, it is also completely voluntary.
How do I submit my Honors Paper for inclusion in Archives @ UMW?
To submit your approved paper to Archives @ UMW, please do the following:
- Fill out the Honors Paper Submission Form available at http://archivesatumw.umwblogs.org/. This form will allow you to upload a “digital copy” of your paper. You can upload any files associated with your paper, such as Word documents, Powerpoint Presentations, graphics, and video or audio files.
- Fill out the Electronic Archive Submission and Release Form (a copy is available for download at http://archivesatumw.umwblogs.org/) and submit it to Tina Faulconer at Simpson Library when you submit your unbound paper copy. Papers without a signed Release Form will not be included in Archives @ UMW.
How do I submit my 589 or 590 project for inclusion in Archives @ UMW?
To submit your approved 589 or 590 project to Archives @ UMW, please do the following:
- Fill out the EDCI Submission Form available at http://archivesatumw.umwblogs.org/. This form will allow you to upload a “digital copy” of your project. You can upload any files associated with your project, such as Word documents, Powerpoint Presentations, graphics, and video or audio files.
- Fill out the Electronic Archive Submission and Release Form (a copy is available for download at http://archivesatumw.umwblogs.org/) and submit it to your Instructor/Project Advisor when you submit the two bound copies of your project. More information about binding your paper copy is available at http://www.umw.edu/library/about/cgps_library/about_cgps_stafford_librar.php#col.
What about the signed cover sheet?
Before we make your paper or project available in Archives @ UMW, Libraries’ Staff will scan the signed cover sheet from the paper copy of your work that we are adding to our physical archives. We will add the digitized cover sheet to the files you submitted via the online Submission Form.
How long will it take before my paper or project appears in Archives @ UMW?
As the 2008-2009 school year is the first time UMW Libraries will be including projects in Archives @ UMW, it may take a full semester after your project is submitted before we can make it available online.
