Abbie McGhee serves as the Special Events Coordinator. She works with a variety of special events such as the Fredericksburg Forum, the Executive-in-Residence Program, and the Great Lives Series. She is a graduate of Radford University with a B.A. in Communication and Virginia Tech with a M.Ed. in Higher Education and University Administration.  Prior to joining the University of Mary Washington she coordinated events at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Va.

Margaret has worked in public relations and event planning for more than 20 years and currently serves as Special Projects Coordinator. In this position she coordinates Family Weekend and assists with other major institutional events. She is a member of Virginia Press Women and the College Communicators Association of Virginia and the District of Columbia, as well as a charter member and past president of the Fredericksburg Public Relations Society. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Illinois and holds a master of arts in liberal studies degree from the University of Mary Washington. In a prior life she was a high school history and government teacher. The mother of two daughters, she also is the grandmother of five.
