The James Farmer Multicultural Center presents the dance performance "UNSUNG" by CrossCurrents Dance Company as part of the "Culture through the Arts" series. In honor of veterans' day, UMW dance professor Tiffany Haughn choreographed "UNSUNG" - a dance that tells the story of war from the soldiers' perspective. Inspired from letters by and interviews with soldiers of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, the work depicts the many different aspects of war from tragedy and loss to self sacrifice and the triumph of the human spirit."UNSUNG"honors the commitment and sacrifice of soldiers while at the same time serving as a sermon on peace.
The performance will include UMW students from the Department of Theatre and Dance. Following the performance, the audience is invited if they choose to, to join the dancers in a workshop to reflect on the performance. The workshop will include dialoguing, writing, drawing and movement improvisation. We hope you will join us!
