CLEP
(College Level Examination Program)
The CLEP is computer-based exam designed to test knowledge in various subject areas. Passing scores can earn students college credit in these areas.
CLEP testing is available at the Stafford Campus on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The first appointment can be made at 8:30 am and the last appointment at 3:30 pm.
CLEP eCBT exam fee will increase to $72 due to increased operating expenses, beginning July 1, 2009. The fee for optional essays will continue to be $10 (payable by check or credit card on-line at testing computer) and $20, a separate check or cash payment payable directly to UMW. The scores and semester hours that appear in this table are the credit-granting scores and semester hours recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE). 1These exams will be available to students on July 1, 2010. If the college does not require a supplemental essay for the Modular version of the examination, the ACE credit-granting recommendation is 3 credits. If the college does require a supplemental essay, the credit-granting recommendation is 6 credits.
2Beginning July 1, 2010, these exams will no longer be available to students. They will be replaced by College Composition and College Composition Modular.
