The University of Mary Washington has been recognized among the nation’s best colleges by two major publications, the Fiske Guide to Colleges and USA Today.
For the eighth consecutive year, the prestigious Fiske Guide to Colleges recognized UMW as a “best buy.” Mary Washington is among 21 public and 26 private institutions recognized for delivering outstanding academics and the most reasonable prices. The 2018 edition of the selective guidebook features more than 300 colleges and universities. The listing was based on questionnaires sent to administrators and a cross-section of students.
“The University of Mary Washington offers a first-rate liberal arts education, the feel of a private school and a public school price tag,” according to the Fiske Guide, which has been compiled annually under the direction of Edward B. Fiske, former education editor of the New York Times. “Mary Washington has gained a reputation as one of the premium public liberal arts colleges in the country and continues to attract bright students from around the globe.”
The Fiske Guide is available in bookstores and as an iPad app on iTunes and a web app on CollegeCountdown.com.
In addition, USA Today placed UMW at the No. 10 spot in their list of the “Top Ten in Virginia.”
“With high freshmen retention and graduation rates and a reasonable net price, UMW is one of the best values for your money in the nation,” said the report. To read that report, visit http://college.usatoday.com/2017/06/30/top-virginia-colleges/.
