UMW Hosts Screening of Youth Empowerment Documentary

The University of Mary Washington’s Center for Honor, Leadership and Service hosted a screening of “Up To Us,” a nonpartisan documentary that focuses on the importance of the youth vote in the upcoming election, on Thursday, Nov. 1. According to the film’s website, “Up to Us” aims to voice the concerns and issues of young Americans, many of whom are struggling in today’s recession. The film hopes to educate young people on issues and solutions as it follows two young Americans with a goal to make a difference in the world. The film screening was followed by a panel discussion with the film’s director David D. Burstein, Matthew Segal, executive director of Our Time and other special guests. “We are thrilled to bring the film to Mary Washington and are looking forward to a great conversation with fellow members of our generation about what is at stake for all of us,” said Burstein.
