-2008-09 Season at a Glance-

All Concerts are at Dodd Auditorium in George Washington Hall on the campus of the University of Mary Washington. Concerts are free of charge (except for the April Celebrity Series), but priority seating and parking is given to Friends of the Orchestra subscribers. The UMW-CSO performs with the other music department ensembles for Family Weekend.

Friday, October 17                  7:30 p.m.                                 October Masterworks

Featured works include Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade and Haydn Symphony No. 104 “London”.

Saturday, October 18              Noon-1:00 p.m.                       Young Peoples Concert

“Humor in Music!” Featuring the Classical works of composer Joseph Haydn. Free. Children ages 3 and up.

Thursday, December 4            5:30-6:30 p.m.                         Instrument Petting Zoo

Free family event. Children meet the principal players of the symphony and get to hear and try the instruments of the orchestra. Games, balloons, and fun! Stay for the POPS concert beginning at 7:30.

The conductor of the Boston POPS Orchestra leads the UMW-CSO in the sixth annual Celebrity Series concert. Maestro Lockhart has selected a program that will include John Williams and Aaron Copland.
