Friends of the Orchestra

The generous donations of our "Friends of the Orchestra" make it possible for us to fund student scholarships to orchestra members. Last year, over $26,000 in scholarships were given to deserving students. With your help, we will continue to bring outstanding classical music to the Fredericksburg community!

The 2007-2008 season is here and we are excited about the new opportunities and new musical challenges for the orchestra. Last year, we hosted Ramsey Lewis and his Trio in our annual April Celebrity Series, and this year the orchestra will perform with The Kingston Trio! With each performance, Dodd Auditorium is filled with audiences expecting to hear the highest level of musical performance - and they are not dissapointed.

The Friends of the Orchestra have grown to an all-time high - over 250 strong. Through the expanding Outreach program (like Fiddlestix) new audiences heard the musical talents of Orchestra members. In 2006-07 alone, Friends provided over $26,000 to students in the form of scholarships! Few orchestras in the region can boast of such accomplishments.

The 2007-2008 Orchestra season also brings new goals for Friends - increasing the number of Friends at all levels, and the desire to reach more local audiences who will delight in outstanding symphonic music.

As music programs around the country are being eliminated, Fredericksburg is indeed fortunate to have an Orchestra of such high quality to inspire and entertain us all. To our established Friends, thank you for your continued support. To our new Friends, we appreciate your commitment to music and to the region. Your donation to Friends directly funds student scholarships and helps maintain a high standard of excellence.
