Student Clubs and Organizations
The University of Mary Washington offers more than 95 clubs and organizations for students. A complete listing of student clubs is available.
If your interest is not covered by any of the current clubs, Student Activities will show you how to start the club of your choice.
Student clubs and organizations recognized by the Inter-Club Association (ICA) are entitled to web space as well as an email account. See the policies and procedures of club websites for more information.
Please contact the Office of Student Activities and Community Service (OSACS) at osacs@umw.edu or (540) 654-1061 if you have any questions regarding student clubs and organizations.
Campus Governance
Several organizations exist to provide avenues for self-governance and a student voice on University decisions. These are the organizations available:
The Honor Council stewards the Honor System by investigating Honor accusations, running Honor hearings, and issuing Honor sanctions.
The Judicial Review Board (JRB) hears alleged violations of University policy to decide responsiblity and assign sanctions.
The Student Government Association (SGA) is a forum where students bring their concerns about campus issues ranging from academics to safety. SGA also addresses local, state, and national issues which affect students (for example, VRE parking). SGA is the students’ link with the administration. Along with these duties, SGA organizes community events to foster school spirit, such as the Homecoming fireworks.
The Finance Committee is a student elected body that oversees the fair disbursement of funds to UMW recognized clubs and organizations. The Finance Committee meets Sundays at 5 p.m. in the OSACS conference room. Please sign up on the Finance Committee door by Thursday at 5 p.m. to request a meeting time. Questions pertaining to the Finance Committee should be directed to the Chair, Kelly Caldwell at finance@umw.edu.
