As students return home for Thanksgiving and the Winter Holidays, it is the perfect time to engage in a conversation about summer 2018 plans, which can include one of UMW’s international education opportunities led by our own professors.
There are many options to match your student’s academic needs and interests:
- The Department of Psychology’s program in London, Paris, Wurzburg, and Vienna offers the perfect path to trace the development of psychology prior to its introduction in the United States.
- Students in the 3 or 6-week UMW in France multidisciplinary program will immerse in the culture of historic Aix-en-Provence, founded in 123 B.C. while visiting Cézanne’s home and studio, and discovering the colorful countryside of the south of France.
- For 2 weeks, students in the UMW in South Africa program will engage with local communities in Port Elizabeth, working on a project that includes sports coaching with local public school children and teaching them about physical education, wellness, and sportsmanship.
- Students in the 5-week UMW in Spain multidisciplinary program will visit some of Spain’s most beautiful cities and attend cultural events, including the world-famous Running of the Bulls in Pamplona.
- Students in the UMW in Venice and Croatia will examine the fault lines of empires and look at the expansion and decline of two great civilizations.
- UMW in Wales will grant students access to lectures from world-leading Arthurians while guiding them through classic and modern retellings of the Arthurian legend.
- Students in the College of Education in the UMW in London program will gain an international perspective on education while seeing the breathtaking sights of this historic city.
- Students in the College of Business in the UMW in Paris program will discover French business culture and learn key skills to successful international business interactions in the context of this bustling cultural metropolis.
- Students can also spend their summer honing their professional skills in Dublin or Prague doing an internship in a variety of fields. Students interested in Pre-Med also have the opportunity to learn about healthcare in Europe or South America by shadowing doctors through the Atlantis Clinical Fellowship.
It is never too early to think about Education Abroad and the Center for International Education located in the 4th floor of Lee Hall is the first stop to discover new destinations, academic opportunities, and professional pathways.
