University Parking Tickets (citations)

Parking appeals for University students are to be filed on-line through the Parking Management link on the Universities Eaglelink Portal. Appeal progress and decisions can be monitored through the portal. Allow 10 business days for an appeal to process. Each citation appealed will be reviewed by the Police Chief. Decisions made by the Police Chief are final; there is no further appeal process.

Persons with no University affiliation wishing to appeal a University parking ticket must complete and return an appeal form. All appeals must be received within seven business days of the citation issue date.

Appeal forms are available at the University Police epartment or from the Website listed below. Complete the appeal form, attach the ticket, and bring or mail it to the University Police Department, ATTN: Police Chief, Brent Hall, 1301 College Ave., Fredericksburg, VA 22401.The seven business day requirement also applies to mailed appeals. An appeal form must be completed for each ticket issued. Appeals will be forwarded to Police Chief for review. Decisions made by the Police Chief are final; there is no further appeal process.

City of Fredericksburg Parking Tickets

PAYMENT FOR THESE FINES CANNOT BE MADE AT THE UMW POLICE OFFICE.

A city parking ticket fine must be paid or contested within ten days. Failure to pay or appeal within the time limit will result in additional costs and issuance of a summons to appear in the General District Court. Payment for a city parking ticket can be made to the City Treasurer, City Hall, 715 Princess Anne St., P.O. Box 267, Fredericksburg, VA 22404.

City Parking Appeals: To appeal a city parking ticket (within ten days), you can obtain a "contest" form from Emergency Communication Office located in Brent Hall on the College of Arts and Sciences Fredericksburg Campus or the City of Fredericksburg Police Department (FPD), 2200 Cowan Bvld., complete the form and return it to the Fredericksburg Police Department. The General District Court will mail you a notice of a hearing date.
