UNIVERSITY OF MARY WASHINGTON STRATEGIC AREA GOALS
(from Mary Washington College Strategic Plan, February 7, 2003)

I. Academic Program
Produce confident, well-educated graduates. To that end, the institution will dedicate its
resources to attracting and retaining the best faculty, establishing a curriculum focused on the personal and intellectual development of its students, and providing all the necessary resources to support academic community and strong student-faculty relationships.

II. Student Life
Create a seamless connection between the academic and co-curricular programs, producing a broad, student-centered learning experience.

III. Enrollment/Financial Aid
Enroll and graduate an academically accomplished, diverse, and actively involved student body. The institution will seek to increase merit- and need-based financial support for full-time and part-time students.

IV. Human Resources/Work Environment
Attract, develop, and retain a highly qualified, creative, and diverse work force. Provide a work environment that values productivity, equity, respect, wellness, and a positive attitude.

V. Information Environment
Create a top-quality, accessible, yet secure information environment for all University functions and provide the tools, technology, and support that enable all members of the University community to use that environment efficiently and effectively.

VI. Facilities and Properties
Preserve and improve current facilities, and build new facilities as needed that maintain the architectural integrity of each campus and support the University’s expanding academic, co-curricular, and community programs.

VII. Financial Resources
Manage the University’s financial resources effectively and seek to generate additional income in ways consistent with the University’s mission.

VIII. Institutional Advancement/External Relations/Outreach
Advance the University’s mission and vision by increasing financial support, enhancing regional economic development, delivering cultural and educational programming, and effectively communicating with all our constituencies.
