Chapter 6: Campus-Wide Policies

Computer Usage Policy

The Mary Washington computer network consists of a campus-wide fiber optic based backbone, local area networks, and many shared computers as well as personal desktop computers. The Department of Information Technologies and the people who act as systems administrators work to ensure that network privileges are properly maintained for all University users. Users also must meet certain responsibilities and are subject to certain limitations. Those who fail to meet these responsibilities or operate within these limitations may have their network privileges suspended or revoked.

A complete statement of user privileges and responsibilities may be viewed at
http://www.umw.edu/policies/network/use/default.php. Utilizing College-owned computers and networks constitutes acceptance and understanding of the University’s Computer and Network Policy.
