Advising Services

The Office of Advising Services provides the services necessary for planned enrollment in and completion of CGPS degree programs.  Services include:

  • Providing academic advising for enrollment in College programs and/or courses and providing continuing advice and counsel throughout students’ academic careers.
  • Reviewing and recommending course selections in conjunction with students’ faculty advisor.
  • Reviewing prior College credit and awarding transfer credit subsequent to matriculation.
  • Explaining and interpreting CGPS academic rules and regulations.
  • Providing specialized advising for students in academic jeopardy.
  • Making referrals to the Office of Career Services for employment/career opportunities.
  • Administering the UMW Honor Code.

The Office of Advising Services is also a student services clearinghouse, and professional staff members are available to provide advising services to students on a scheduled or walk-in basis.  Additional services include financial aid referrals, disability service referrals, and academic skills workshops.
