Contracts, Teaching Loads, and Faculty Status
Adjunct faculty appointments are short term appointments at the rank of Adjunct Instructor and typically involve teaching one or two courses per semester, although in some cases an adjunct instructor may teach three courses in a semester. An adjunct instructor will not teach more than three courses per semester or more than six courses in an academic year.
Adjunct faculty who have been offered and have accepted a teaching assignment will receive a contract letter signed by the president of the University, which they, in turn, must also sign and return to the assistant to the dean. By accepting a contract to teach, instructors are expected to be at all class sessions.
