Transfer Academic Planning Guide (BA/BS)

Step 7) Tips and other considerations when planning a schedule

Online Foreign Language Placement Testing

Foreign language placement testing will begin June 4, 2007. Tests will be offered in French, German, Latin, and Spanish. All tests will be taken online.

This placement test is designed to assess your current level of knowledge and skill in the language and to give you advice about the course level where you should start your foreign language [Latin] studies at UMW. The reported score might indicate, for example, Spanish 201, meaning that this should be the course in which you start as you work on meeting the language requirement.

You may take the test in a particular language only once. You may, however, take more than one different language placement test (the French and Latin tests, for example) but you may take each test only once.

The results of this test provide information about the level of the foreign language where you should start your college work. The results of this test do not earn you any college credit, and the results are not part of your permanent record.

TIP: Beginning on June 4, Check the "Welcome" Channel in the Eaglelink portal for the login information to take these exams.
