LIBERAL STUDIES

The Bachelor of Liberal Studies Program
The Bachelor of Liberal Studies program is designed for persons six or more years out of high school who want to major in a traditional arts and sciences discipline. This degree program offers greater flexibility for adult students because it does not require full-time study, extended residence at the University, or foreign language requirements (unless one is majoring in a foreign language). More than 30 majors and concentrations in the liberal arts and sciences (not including Business Administration) are available to B.L.S. students, including options to double major or create a self-designed interdisciplinary major. (Students interested in business are encouraged to apply for admission to the Bachelor of Professional Studies program at the College of Graduate and Professional Studies.)
Requirements for the B.L.S. degree are presented on pages 49-50 of this Catalog. B.L.S. students are encouraged to complete BLST 100, Orientation. Others may wish to enroll in BLST 101, Portfolio Development, for instruction in developing portfolios that document learning gained through life and work for possible conversion to up to thirty academic credits.
