Keith Urban's “Golden Road ” rocked the first-floor offices of the new Jepson Alumni Executive Center as jeans-clad development staff dug through a maze of boxes. With the movers gone, it was time to unpack, organize and revel in brand-spanking new digs.

“Isn't it beautiful?” Lee Ann Reaser, director of annual giving, called to a visitor. “Welcome to our new home.”

As of Aug. 9, the Jepson Alumni Executive Center houses most all of the Office of University Development and Office of Alumni Relations staff.

“The Center gives a very visual and visible symbol on the campus representing the relationship of the alumni to the institution,” said Cindy Snyder, director of alumni relations, whose office is on the second floor of the Jepson Alumni Executive Center . “That is something we have never had before.”

For the last two years, development and alumni offices were divided between duPont Hall and Fairfax House. Now the Office of Human Resources, formerly in George Washington Hall, is in Fairfax House. Later this fall, after some minor renovations such as the installation of ramps to make the building more accessible, HR plans to hold an open house. The date has not
been announced.

The move by development and alumni relations to the Jepson Alumni Executive Center not only reunites staff, it also puts them closer to their constituents.

“One big advantage to having our department here is that it will make it easier for our alumni and donors to come to one office to meet with anyone in our department,” Reaser said.“Plus many alumni and donor events will now be held in the Center.”

And since many development and alumni relations staffers are Mary Washington graduates, the Center is doubly welcoming. To us, this is our alumni home as well as our work space,” Reaser said. “So that makes it special, too.”
