Smoking/ Tobacco Policy

It is an objective at the University to provide the healthiest environment possible for students, staff, and faculty members. To this end, it is University policy that: (1) smoking is prohibited in all buildings, except by "Smoking Permitted" signs in identified areas and (2) the right of non-smokers to protect their health from the smoke takes precedence over an individual's desire to smoke. In general, smoking is prohibited in all indoor spaces occupied by non-smokers and smokers. The appropriate administrator may designate permitted indoor smoking areas. Conflicts between smokers and non-smokers first should be referred to the Assistant Vice-President of Human Resources.
