Do you remember the bridge games we played in the dorms? Some of us continue
to play. Marjorie Gibson Blaxill, who lives in Princeton, N.J., has attained
“Life Master” in competitive bridge. I teach adult bridge classes
in Summit County, Colo., and Susan Hutcheson Jergens of Gordonsville, Va.,
plays in three bridge clubs.
Susan and her husband recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with
a reception given by their two daughters and sons-in-law. Attending the reception
were Maxine Haley Hazelgrove from Ashland, Va.; Carol Oliver Headlee of Richmond;
and Mary Lou Finney Boyd of Stevensville, Md.
Nancy Moxley Stone and her husband welcomed Nancy Stump Motley and her husband,
Kenneth, to their house in Eustis, Fla. Nancy also visited Shirley Bowman
Stotts at the Stotts home on Smith Mountain Lake. Nancy and her husband have
a grandson at James Madison University, and another grandson who just finished
high school in Columbia, S.C.
Joyce Long Moore did not make our 50th reunion because she was caring for
her father, who passed away last year at the age of 96. However, she was able
to enjoy a cruise to the western Caribbean in February. She stays busy with
church work, serving as treasurer of the day care board, and researching her
ancestors.
Anne Beck Macfarlane lives in Roanoke, Va. She has four children scattered
all over the United States, and six grandsons. After replacement of a shoulder
and a hip last year, she is back on the tennis court.
Anne Hart Martin and husband Bill studied Spanish in Spain, Uruguay and Chile.
Anne enjoys volunteer work in connection with the Art Institute of Chicago.
Nancy Cundey Peacock and her husband returned to their Williamsburg, Va.,
home after spending three months in Newport Beach, Calif. Nancy has talked
to Eleanor Michelet Mulbry, who lives in Saratoga, Calif.
Nancy Parker Richardson had a gall bladder operation last summer and a broken
hip from a fall on New Year’s Eve, but she was able to see granddaughter
Brittany graduate from high school in the spring. Nancy planned to move back
to Virginia Beach in the fall. Mimi Bruce McCombie moved to a new condo on
the waterfront in Virginia Beach.
