Barbara Forgione Tansey and husband Bruce are owners of a 23-foot deck boat, which they named Lady of the Lake. They enjoy many hours on Lake Tellico. Their travels last year included an anniversary weekend in Asheville, N.C., a visit with daughter Lisa and her husband at Virginia Beach’s Neptune Festival, and a fall foliage cruise along the Chattanooga River with their community’s Retired Military Club.

Sue Keblusek put her home in the San Francisco Bay area on the market and is enjoying life on Whidbey Island in Washington State.

Ellen Grace Jaronczyk has enjoyed some traveling with her husband, Bob, on his business trips to Charlottesville, Va., and Washington, D.C., where she toured the National Gallery. Last March, they visited friends from Minnesota who had recently moved to Williamsburg, Va., and then spent a few days in Richmond. They stayed at the Jefferson Hotel to celebrate Ellen’s birthday. Bob surprised her by having her parents and son Morgan and his wife meet them there. Ellen and Bob became grandparents again last January when son Forrest and his wife had a baby boy.

Martha Veasey Sawyer and husband Roger have enjoyed traveling, too. They spent a week in Las Vegas last fall and then journeyed to Nashville with friends last winter. Martha continues to care for her many feathered friends; she has 10 feeding stations. She and Roger own two cats, one of which is now 20 years old. They enjoyed visiting with their five grandchildren for the holidays last winter. During one of the many snowstorms last January, Martha and Roger did something they haven’t done in 38 years: went sledding!

Mary “Kathy” Hichak Sikes and husband Randy spent a lot of time last fall cleaning up debris from Hurricane Isabel. Last November, they traveled to Atlanta to celebrate Randy’s mother’s 80th birthday. Kathy gets a Christmas card every year from Gretchen Gregory Davis, who was her roommate the last two years at Mary Washington. Kathy had lots of family visit last Christmas and revealed that on Christmas Eve, their family tradition is to have peppermint ice cream with hot fudge and cookies. Sounds good to me! Kathy’s son Scott was married last January.

Kathy Thiel’s husband died unexpectedly in January. We offer our deepest condolences.

Our third grandchild, a boy, was born last October to Ted’s eldest son, Greg, and his wife, Denise. I had surgery last December to remove my gall bladder, and my overall health has significantly improved. We continue to enjoy our home in the mountains, and we visit the children and grandchildren as often as we can.
