Terri Hall Alford and Marty celebrated the arrival of their grandson, Alexander Emerson Garton, last year. Terri spent a wonderful week in Lake Tahoe celebrating this joyous event. Another daughter was married several months later. Even with all this activity, Terri and Marty found time to get away to England for a week in the Cotswold Hills.

Sherrie Mitchell Boone stays busy and productive in Roanoke, Va., doing her studio art and piano tuning and teaching. Daughter Leighanne celebrated her first wedding anniversary. Son Trey took a year off from Tulane, but was headed back to finish his degree.

Cheryl Prietz Childress was happy to announce the birth of a darling buckskin filly to one of her mares. Cheryl continues to work in the library at Collegiate School in Richmond. Her daughter goes to school there and her son is at Radford. Her husband works for HUD. In addition to their jobs, life on the farm and the kids, they also are Morgan enthusiasts and own a vintage sports car.

Nancy Mahone Miller and her husband always attend the Robert Burns Night Supper in Richmond. Martha Stansell Vogel and her husband, Kurt also attended this year. Nancy spent two glorious weeks in Scotland last year. She still loves her job as a collection development librarian at Virginia Beach Public Library and has spent much of the year immersed in DAR activities as well. Her husband, CG, recently switched jobs and is now a consultant with a small finance company. Both are active in their church.

One of my close and cherished friends is Norah Heckman ’73, who lives in Crystal City, Va. She left her position with Nurses of America when the association relocated.

The Baltimore alumni chapter had its annual brunch at the Johns Hopkins Club. As usual, it was an enjoyable event with good food and company. We always have a good speaker and this year, Dr. Martin A. Wilder Jr., head of the admissions office, gave a very good overview of the next phase of the University of Mary Washington.

Dennis and I are doing well. He continues with his work at the Maryland Department of Transportation, but is also starting his own business. My job at Piper Rudnick continues to keep me on my toes with projects all over the firm, not to mention the ever-growing load of asbestos cases. We enjoyed visits from various family members, took a lovely vacation to Myrtle Beach and Charleston, S.C., and plan to take a trip to Texas.
