Heidi Klussmann Brugmann lives in Munich with husband Guillermo. She has retired and travels with her husband on business trips. They recently went to Thailand and Malaysia.

Kathy Billos Lianos has lived in Athens since 1977. She has been married for 24 years to a retired police officer who is now the adviser on security matters to the CEO of the Athens International Airport. She has two children: Panagiotis is at Deree College in Athens and Evangelia is pursuing a master’s degree at London School of Economics and Political Science. Kathy teaches private English lessons and stays busy keeping up with her family and traveling back and forth to the United States. She has traveled to Australia and India as well.

Mary Johnson Mulligan lives in Titusville, Fla., and works as a program analyst with NASA at the Kennedy Space Center. Son Patrick is at Emory University; daughters Katie and Courtney are in high school. Mary’s husband passed away three years ago, but she is very thankful that she and her children have been able to adjust.

Deborah Peel Spidle has lived in Omaha, Neb., with her husband, Jim, since 1989. They both work in the information technology field and have two dogs. Deborah also is involved with a local church choir, and she substitutes for the organist on occasion. In addition, she has had three compositions for handbells published.

Cathy Morris Day has lived in Texas for nearly 11 years. Her husband is a pastor at a small Baptist church and they have three sons. One is in community college, one is at the University of North Texas and one is in high school. Cathy works as an administrative assistant at a local hospital.

Sue Sendlein Luscomb lives in Germantown, Tenn. Daughter Alicia is a psychology major at Auburn University and daughter Ashton is a senior in high school. Sue has served as a PTA president at her daughters’ elementary, middle and high schools. She is also very involved in an educational philanthropic organization for women. To satisfy her nostalgia for her alma mater, Sue’s family ordered her a MWC chair for Mother’s Day!

Helen Taylor Salter had a very rough winter with health issues, but she is doing much better. Madelin Jones Barratt went to Rwanda to visit an orphanage for children whose parents were victims of the genocide. Before leaving, she crossed paths with Barbara Baylis Hinton in Falls Church, Va. Barbara and her husband, Don, have two daughters. Laura, 15, plays the bassoon and Jackie, 12, plays the string bass.

Carolyn Roberts and Susan Grimes both wrote to tell me about their excellent birthday vacation to New Zealand, where they backpacked, hiked, kayaked and cycled. Susan’s 14 year-old-son accompanied them.

Jane Reese is still busy with her consulting business. She was preparing to move to Rehoboth Beach, Del., and commute when necessary. Martha Prettyman Dinger-Neave has been a breast cancer survivor for two years. Her husband is a teacher and softball coach at Annandale High School. She still has her plant and aquarium business. Her son has graduated and works nearby. Martha ran into Hannah Patterson Crew at the Special Olympic State Games in Richmond, where she and her daughter were volunteering.

Laura Null was my son’s eighth grade art teacher this year! I met her six years ago when my daughter was in her class, but I had never made the Mary Washington connection.
