From Deacon:
Thanks to all who have updated their lives for us, and massive props to those
considerate souls who have reported on the lives of their lazy friends!
We’ll begin with what is a common theme this issue: weddings. Abigail
Mitchell will marry Ben Pearce in July 2005 in Virginia Beach. She and her
fiancé had plans to get together on the Outer Banks of North Carolina
with Matt Galeone, Wes Heuvel and Amy Wachenfield Eagen. Amy and her husband,
Greg, were moving to Miami so that she could finish up her Ph.D. in pediatric
psychology. Stephen O’Connell is working toward his Ph.D. in geography
at Oklahoma State, where he received his master’s degree.
Last October, Emily Shanaberger married Andrew deFiesta in Richmond. Tara
Mallon Edwards was maid of honor and Jen Goldman Katz ’97 was a bridesmaid.
Also in attendance were Keith Guralchuk, Dave Mathes and Becky Abramson. The
deFiestas were expecting a baby boy in July.
Joselle Poblete was to be married in September to Callum Duncan, an Australian
she met while on a work-abroad program. They both live in San Francisco where
Joselle works for Barclays Global Investors as a securities lending trader.
Also planning a wedding was Tim Deyesu whose bride is Lesley St. Denis ’00.
Tim is director of baseball operations with Cal Ripken Baseball in Maryland.
Jay Szatmary got engaged last winter. He also has purchased a condo in Brookline,
Mass. Heidi Buchanan and her husband, Ryan Keohane ’99, are new homeowners
in Spotsylvania County. She teaches math at Stafford High School. Anitra Pool
Fenderson is also a new homeowner in Richmond with her husband, Tripp. Anitra
works as marketing manager/Web developer for MaxPitch Media Inc.
Heather Siderius was planning a July wedding to Jason Malecki and simultaneously
building a house in Lorton, Va. Erin Rodman lives in Los Angeles and works
at Dreamworks while Laura Letchworth is in New York City working as a music
therapist at NYU Medical Center. It turns out that Liz Siciliano lives a block
down the street. Small world! From western Massachusetts, Emily Winn reports
that she was married in March to Albert Petren, a fellow law student at Western
New England College School of Law.
Leslie Mills was married in May to Peter Kimball. They planned to move to
Charlottesville in August. Jenna Cassidy was in Leslie’s wedding party.
Kirsten Angle was planning a November wedding to Peter Rowan. They planned
to live in Washington. Laura Babb and her husband, Les Currier ’97,
just bought a new house in South Riding, Va. Erin Golden is married to Dave
Brown. They live in Simsbury, Conn., where Erin works for Allstate.
Todd Hamlin ’99, Adrien Snedeker, Josh Parker ’99 and Rob Cushing
’99 are soccer teammates in Northern Virginia. Todd is working at Arthur
Vandelay Industries as an importer/exporter. When Adrien isn’t playing
soccer, she is closing in on her MBA from American University. Jeremy Blain
was married in May to Jen Burke. Groomsmen were Clint McCarthy, Mike “Pasta”
Paolino, Lars Thestrup, Brian Lusk and Jeff Seaman ’97. Other Mary Washington
alumni in attendance were J.T. Tani, Jesse Freese ’97, Mike Hurt ’97,
Becky Earle Middleton ’97, Darien Berkowitz Jacobson and husband Andy,
and Lauren Dwyer and fiancé Brandon Lowther. Mike Paolino had plans
to head to the altar in June to marry Diane Finnegan.
Clint McCarthy’s news includes the following: He is an associate at
Booz Allen Hamilton and he lives in a new home in Alexandria, Va. Rob Braidwood
’00 and his bride, Ashley Lewis-Braidwood, took a belated honeymoon
last spring to Mexico; they also have purchased a home in Alexandria. Rob
works for the City of Alexandria and Ashley is a vice president at Ascend
Therapeutics in Herndon. Brian Lusk is a consultant for Accenture.
Erika and I are closing in on our first anniversary. She is now senior assistant
director of admissions at the University of New Hampshire and she runs the
tour guide program. I am the New Hampshire market manager for the Redhook
Ale Brewery. Keep those updates coming!
