Kristin Ruhl got married in May in Outer Banks, N.C. Others getting married this summer were Erin Murphy and Kelly Cwiak. Kelly recently moved to Arizona and is teaching sixth grade. She plans to go to graduate school to pursue a career as a school administrator.

Chris Wiegand got married last June and teaches fifth grade in Richmond. She is working on a master’s degree at VCU. Brenna Fach is married and lives near Philadelphia, where she works for the American Cancer Society. Laura Reilly is married and lives in Alexandria, Va.

Jaimee Baker and Costen Burch ’97 were married in Hawaii. They live in California, where Jaimee teaches fifth grade and Costen is a computer engineer. Rachel Seaborn is married and living in White Marsh, Md. She works at AFLAC and was expecting her first child.

Jessica Vest is married and living outside of Richmond, where she works for an employee benefits firm. Gina Desantis Shaw and her husband welcomed a daughter, Cassidy, last February. Becca Maus Gwyer and husband David were expecting a baby in September. They live outside San Diego. Emily Buchanan Lach and husband Tony live in Fredericksburg with their new baby boy, Owen. Emily works as a mathematician at Dahlgren.

Anne Blane Elliott Wootten and her husband are living outside Atlanta. She is completing nursing school. Gina Cumbo is living in Charlotte, N.C. Last summer, she and Holly Blanton ’00 of New York City ventured to Paris. Aby Johnson Bethem and husband Blake live in Fredericksburg. Callie Owen is working in an art-framing store and studying for a master’s degree in Northern Virginia. Janet Oldis continues to use her cheery voice in the human resources department at JetBlue. She lives in Queens.

Kate Walker Krukiel is a senior consultant at BearingPoint. She lives in Old Town Alexandria. To keep her culinary passion alive, she works at a wine bar and volunteers as a prep cook at a homeless kitchen. Steve Charnoff is practicing law with a firm in Old Town Alexandria and lives with Jenny Moss and Shannon Blevins.

Flora Adams Harris and her husband were planning a move from Winston-Salem to Hickory, N.C. She teaches fifth grade. Jennifer Fields Beeker is working on a master’s degree in education. She and her husband live in Lynchburg, Va., with an adorable black lab. Lisa Mueller earned a master’s degree in education. Corey Sell lives and teaches in Northern Virginia.

Liz Howard Hencke produced her first movie, Illusions of Grandeur, which was directed and filmed by husband Matthew. James Tsantes earned an MBA and is a financial manager for the International Consumer Finance Group of American Express in New York.

Chris Fines and wife Regina just bought a house in Richmond. Jimmy Rhodes ’02 works for the American Diabetes Association. He has been very persuasive in getting fellow alumni to volunteer in Northern Virginia. He lives with Matt Baecker, an assistant general manager for TGI Friday’s. Julie McPhilomy lives in Chicago and flies for American. Shoshana Goldberg Sumy is teaching secondary special education in Reisterstown, Md. She was to complete a master’s degree at the College of Notre Dame this month.

Jessie Swissler is living in Utah, working as a white water river guide in the summer and as a ski instructor in the winter. Emre Izat lives in Falls Church, Va., and works for National Geographic TV and Film, where he receives pitches for new documentaries and helps his department prepare promotional materials. He continues to do a little acting, singing and fiddling on the side.


Meredith Price has finished physician assistant training at Duke University and is looking for a position in Durham, N.C. Andrea and Greg Stemberger live in Stone Ridge, Va. She works at Chesterbrook Academy, and he works at Sprint. Julie Alexander ’00 received a master’s degree from James Cook University in Australia. She worked as a marine biologist in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, and has begun a doctoral program in Montana in freshwater fish diseases.

I continue to teach fourth grade in Fredericksburg. I’m also working on my master’s degree in education at Mary Washington. I had the privilege of traveling to Spain this summer for two weeks. I hope to someday live in England or Ireland but for now, the ’Burg will have to do.
