Surplus Property Procedures
Surplus
When property is to be declared surplus by a department, it must be reported to the Agency Surplus Property Officer on a Surplus Property Form. This form is used for both surplus of property and transfer of fixed assets from one location to another. Please fill out the surplus portion of the form completely and email storeroom@umw.edu. Please make a hard copy of the form and attach it to the surplus item. When the Surplus Department has received the completed form they will arrange for pick up. The normal pick up day for Surplus goods is Wednesday, unless other arrangements are made in advance. Only items listed on the Surplus Form will be picked up. If you request, after property is received and verified the form will be signed and a copy will be returned to the Department for their records.
Property Relocation
The Surplus Property Form is also used to record the relocation of a fixed asset. This form is only necessary when the item to be moved is a fixed asset and has a UMW tracking number sticker attached. Please complete the section(s) of the form pertaining to Relocation of an item and email to dhatcher@umw.edu
Inventory
A list of items available for Department use on Campus is available through the Storeroom. There is no charge for these items. Please contact the Surplus Department at x2093 and arrange a time for viewing.
