Registration for Non-degree students & Auditors

NON-DEGREE

Any student who has not been officially admitted into a degree program at the University of Mary Washington is a non-degree student. These students are governed by the same academic regulations as degree-seeking students. To convert to degree-seeking status, a non-degree student must apply for admission to the University and be accepted. Applications must be submitted before the student has completed 30 credits of graded UMW coursework. More information can be found in the Dictionary of Academic Regulations on Academic Services’s home page or in the Office of Academic Services, Rm. 203, George Washington Hall.

Non-degree students must complete and submit to the Office of the Registrar the forms/documents that are listed below.

Non-Degree Registration Request
Biographic and Demographic Form
Application for Virginia In-State Tuition Rates
Transcript(s) from any other college(s) previously attended

Non-degree registration begins on Thursday, August 21 at 8:00 a.m. and continues until 5:00 p.m. each day until registration closes on August 29th. Students must register in person and be prepared to pay a $25.00 mandatory processing fee per semester in addition to the tuition and fees. Tuition and fees for Virginia residents are $228 per undergraduate credit hour and for non-Virginia residents are $664 per undergraduate credit hour. Method of payment must be cash or check; we do not accept credit cards.

Before completing your registration packet, you are advised to check the open course listing on the registrar’s web page. Please note: If you choose not to attend this semester, you must officially cancel before classes begin or withdraw from the University after classes begin. The paperwork for these processes must be completed in the Office of the Registrar, George Washington Hall, Room 217.
