If you’re enrolled in the University of Mary Washington’s bachelor of liberal studies program, you can take advantage of our leadership and management studies major. This multidisciplinary course of study is designed to produce intellectually agile, effective leaders. You’ll gain critical-thinking skills and ethical reasoning abilities to prepare you to lead at work and in the community.
Areas of Study
You’ll craft your major with courses in business administration such as managerial accounting, organizational behavior, employment law, human resource management, and marketing for managers. You’ll also choose classes from several disciplines that shape your knowledge and abilities in organization and government; leadership and communication; and ethics and diversity.
Internships offer students opportunities to experience various fields of employment while working with a variety of organizations on important and challenging projects. These experiences augment classroom learning while allowing on-the-job training. The major requires 39 credits, including 27 credits in core courses. You’ll earn 12 credits from the areas of ethics and diversity, organization and government, and leadership and communication. In your capstone course, you’ll conduct independent-study research in consultation with a faculty advisor or complete a mentored internship.
