Freshman Lauren Kornacki and junior Kate Carlezon each scored 10 points off the Eagles' bench, as the Eagle reserves scored 39 points in the contest.

Senior forward Ashton Mitchell scored 13 points, senior guard Katy Larson added 12 points, six assists, and five steals, and freshman Jenna McRae added 10 points and seven rebounds for UMW.

			<description><![CDATA[The University of Mary Washington student-athletes donated over one ton of food for the canned food drive &quot;Cans Across America&quot; earlier this week as part of a campus-wide drive for food for the Fredericksburg food bank. The UMW campus donated a total of 3,663 pounds of food for the bank, with student-athletes donating 2,492 pounds. The baseball team led all donations with 468.5 pounds collected.

			<description><![CDATA[The University of Mary Washington women's basketball team, fresh off three straight NCAA Division III Sweet 16 appearances, has received 70 votes in the preseason D3Hoops.com national ranking, released Thursday. The Eagles, who began last season ranked #1 in the nation in the same poll, lost four starters from last year's team, and essentially the 26th ranked team in the nation. UMW opens the regular season on November 15 at Bridgewater College at 2:00 p.m.

			<description><![CDATA[The 4th annual UMW 5K Run was held on September 20, 2008 as part of the UMW Family Weekend Program.  The race set a record for the number of runners with 165 representing eleven different states.  The race kicked off at 7:30 AM Saturday morning with a field that included five faculty members, fifteen graduates, fifty-four parents, and ninety-one students.  The course included a scenic run through the heart of the UMW campus and the surrounding neighborhoods.  With perfect weather, a record crowd and enthusiastic onlookers, the race was a terrific success.]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[University of Mary Washington graduate Glenn Gray '07 is continuing his soccer career this year for the Richmond Kickers Future in the Premiere Development League. In his third season in the PDL, Gray, a Culpeper native, has started six games this season at central and outside back. Last season, Gray was a member of the FC Fredericksburg Gunners in the PDL. He was an All-CAC selection for the Eagles his senior season in 2006.

			<description><![CDATA[The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team, which advanced to the NCAA Division III national quarterfinals for the fourth time in six years, finished the season ranked ninth in the nation in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association ranking of the year. In singles, UMW junior Randy Loden finished ranked 13th in the nation, while classmate John James finished the year ranked 16th in the nation. Both gain All-America honors. In doubles, Loden and freshman Kaz Murata finished the year ranked eighth in the nation to gain All-America status as well.]]></description>

Erickson, who led the nation in assists and assists per game and broke the NCAA Division III season record with 7.94 points per game, was named to the first team. Classmate Sarah Finney, the school's all-time leader in caused turnovers who ranked eighth in the nation in the category this year, was named to the second team.

			<description><![CDATA[University of Mary Washington junior Justin German (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors Association District 3 All-Academic team, as was announced today. German, a junior political science major, carried a perfect 4.0 GPA both semesters this year, and carries a 3.75 overall cumulative GPA. He won the CAC Championship in the high jump this year for the Eagle track team.

Winchester, who has the fifth fastest time entering the finals, set a new school record in prelims on Thursday with a time of 61.68 seconds, bettering her old school record by three-fourths of a second. Winchester will compete in the 400 meter hurdle finals on Saturday.

Rossi hit .397 this season, with 11 doubles and two home runs, with 41 RBI and 37 runs scored for the Eagles.

Classmate Riley Gorman (Machipango, Va./Northampton) was named to the South Region ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove team. The senior center fielder did not commit an error in 71 chances through 39 games for UMW in 2008.
