Viruses and Worms

Like it or not, viruses and worms are here to stay, and appear to be taking more and more energy to combat. At UMW, we have done a tremendous job in preventing viruses from getting onto the Network. However, part of that effort has been to make anti-virus software available to all students, faculty, and staff.

The University provides, and supports, Symantec Anti Virus Corporate Edition for Windows computers, and Norton Anti-Virus for Mac OSX Computers. To the right are instructions on running this software on both a Windows and Mac OSX system.

If you do not have anti-virus installed on your machine, please call the Help Desk at 654-2255. Note that at present, we do not provide licenses for home computers--only for computers on campus.
