Faculty and staff can access the UMW e-mail system using the GroupWise client (e-mail software used for those on-campus and for those dialing directly in to the UMW network) or through the web-based interface, WebMail (for those connecting through other service providers).

Step 1 - Double-click on the GroupWise icon on the desktop.

Step 2 - You should be presented with one of the two login screens below. You may also be asked to connect to a remote mailbox. If so, click 'No'.

Step 3 - If your screen appears similar to the one above, use these instructions:

  • Enter your User ID or username ('jdoe')
  • Enter your password ('password')
  • Select Online
  • Enter 199.111.95.20 for Address
  • Enter 1677 for Port

Windows Users

If your screen appears similar to the one above, simply enter your password. NOTE: The username is taken to be the same Network User ID with which the current user on that computer logged into the UMW Network. If you did not log in to the UMW Network on that computer (such as in a lab, or on someone else's computer), go to the Start button and click on 'Log off user ...' Then log in to the UMW Network with your Network User ID and Network password (this may not be the same as your GroupWise password—see "Changing your GroupWise Password" for more info). You should now be able to log in to GroupWise with your GroupWise password.
