TIP: Before attempting a connection to the UMW Network make sure you have been given a NetID and password.


You can follow the directions here to configure your Mac OS X computer for DHCP (a network protocol required for computers to connect to the UMW network).

Step 1 - Click on the Apple Menu, select "Location," From the fly-out menu, select "Network Preferences."

Step 2 - From the menu labelled "Show," select "Built-in Ethernet".

Step 3 - From the menu labelled "Configure," select "Using DHCP".

Step 4 - Click "Apply Now." The Network panel will now be filled in with configuration information. Once the information is on the screen, try opening a web browser and pulling up a web page. [screenshot] - populated TCP/IP tab

If you still cannot connect, check to see that your cables are all appropriately connected, try again, and if needed contact the Help Desk at 654-2255.
