Student Off-Campus Connections to the Network
Fredericksburg Campus Students enrolled prior to Fall 2003
- Dial-Up: UMW students enrolled prior to Fall 2003 are provided with dial-up access to the Internet through the UMW Network. These students also have the option to use an alternate ISP, particularly if they seek a broadband connection such as cable or DSL. Student dial-up and broadband connections may access network servers through their Web browser via Netstorage, or through the use of FTP software to gain access to UMW servers and network resources. More about Connecting and FTP.
Fredericksburg Campus Students enrolled Fall 2003 or later
- Outside ISP: UMW students living off-campus who enrolled in the Fall of 2003, or later, need to use an outside Internet Service Provider to connect to the UMW Network. Once on the Internet, new students have the ability to exchange and view files via FTP, or through their Web browser. Students living on-campus are provided with high-speed Internet access in all residence halls.
Stafford Students (College of Graduate and Professional Studies)
- All Stafford Students will need to use an outside Internet Service Provider to connect to the UMW Network. Once on the Internet, new Stafford students will have the ability to exchange and view files via FTP, or through their Web browser.
