FACULTY STAFF ON-CAMPUS CONNECTIONS FOR WINDOWS: THE "NOVELL NETWARE CLIENT"
WHAT IS THE NOVELL NETWARE CLIENT?
Faculty and staff, computer labs, and students in selected classes, use the "Novell NetWare Client" to access the servers on the UMW network while on campus. The Novell NetWare Client is a piece of software that, when installed on your computer, enables you to login to the network using your Network User ID and Password.
WINDOWS USERS
All faculty and staff Windows computers will have the Novell NetWare Client installed by the Department of Information Technologies Desktop Support Technicians prior to delivering the computer to your office. You will need to type in your Network UserID and Password when your computer first boots. Here is the dialogue box:
If you believe your machine does not have Novell NetWare Client installed, or are having problems connecting to the network using the Novell Netware Client, please contact the Help Desk at 654-2255 or HelpDesk@umw.edu.
MAC USERS
The UMW Network continues to support Mac users. As usual, the world of the Mac user is a bit different, as follows:
Mac
OSX: Users of Mac OSX machines on campus do not require the
Novell NetWare Client or FTP software to connect to the UMW Network. More

Mac
OS 9: The Novell Netware Client for the Mac OS9 is no longer supported.
Users of Mac OS9 machines on campus must use FTP software to connect to
the UMW Network. More about Mac FTP installation

SPECIAL NOTE FOR STUDENTS:
Unless software access is required for a particular course, students no longer need the Novell NetWare Client to connect to the UMW network. More about new student network connections here
