Step 2: Passwords

Change your Temporary Password before logging into UMW Systems!

Upon arrival at UMW, you will be given a 6-digit temporary password. which will comprise:

Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number*

+

2 digit designation of your birth month (e.g., April = 04)

* Note: If you have no Social Security number, your password will be given to you in a sealed envelope.

Your temporary password is based on personal information, so you will want to change it wherever it is used.

Many of our major systems (such as the EagleLInk Portal and Netmail) use our network password service for checking to see that you are using the proper password, so you will use the temporary password first in the process of changing your password there (see instructions).

Several of our other systems (such as faculty/staff e-mail) still use their own password mechanisms. These have also been set up with your temporary password, and you will need to access those systems directly to change those passwords (see links at right).
